This is a Door-to-Door Sales Pyramid Scheme. They lie and threaten customers, trespass into buildings, and falsely claimed to be employed by the electric company

This is a pyramid scheme. I will say that it appears that this company has been very lucrative for many of its particpants. Plans such as these are not always bad - they're just not for everyone. I feel that the biggest problem with this company is that they are completely dishonest. This position was advertised as an entry-level marketing position.

I applied for the position despite being very over-qualified for what it advertised as a job description. I was suddenly out of work and my hunt wasn't going well, so I sent in a resume. They called back very quickly. I was invited for a first interview during which they asked me a few questions and then asked me to come back the next day for the whole day.

The next day I went and a girl was introduced to me as my mentor and she would be "showing me the ropes." She took me to Starbucks, where everyone starting charging their iPads. I was told to save all questions until the end of the day, so I just observed. Then she told me we were going to Queens! But again, wouldn't tell me why. It wasn't until we got there - and immediately went to lunch, that she told me about their client and that we were in Queens to inform customers about Liberty Energy.

I then went on to follow her for HOURS. We would go to buildings with no doormen and ring every buzzer until someone let us in. Then we went door to door - in a neighborhood where almost all of the residents don't speak English, or don't speak it well. She would tell them that we were there because of a notice that "we" sent out 30 days ago. (Sometimes it was 6 or 7 months ago), and that they had to respond to it today and then would say "Go get your electric bill and I'll explain so that we can take care of this." They often said that they didn't speak English and she would reply "How long have you been in this country?!"

They were all so intimidated. The few that she actually was able to process were for confused women who were so scared that they had done something wrong. Then she suddenly had them signing something and they don't even know what they've committed to - even though it was as simple as selecting Liberty Power as their energy supplier.

If they said "no" she would threaten them that "we will be proceeding with that notification." She would also tell them "Well, your electric bill is going to increase by 40%, so good luck." The "notice" on the back of the bill just informs the customer that they have the right to choose their energy supplier.

I was appalled for the entire day. I really needed a job and actually turned down other interviews to attend this one because it seemed legit. If I knew it was Multi-Level Marketing (the big office in the Financial District through me off), I may have actually still considered it. I WAS still considering it until I actually began to explain to people out loud what I had experienced. But the fact that they sold it to me as something else and refused to tell me what I was doing and lied and threatened people was the most despicable part.

I believe there are probably good people working at this company who have earned and will learn a lot of money. But in my observation, this business is trying to grow exponentially in an unrealistically short amount of time. They "promote" you very quickly and there really is earning potential - if you can stomach the dishonesty.
