Dishonest, pyramid scheme, ponzi scheme, explotation

Miscellaneous

Had an interview with Redzone in August. The man I interview with (I'll withhold his name, although I'm tempted not to) told me the position included salary, benefits, commission, and that the company didn't engage in any sort of door to door sales, shady marketing tactics, and that the position was actually an account executive position with plenty of room to grow and that, ultimately, in 8-10 months they would train me into a management position within the company.

Needless to say I was excited when he invited me back for a "shadow interview" the following day. I showed up and was immediately paired with an account executive I would be following. We got into his car and proceeded to drive to the south side of Chicago for what I assumed was a meeting with clients.instead, we went DOOR TO DOOR of every business in the area in an attempt to get them to switch their electricity provider. Not only was I totally misled about the nature of the position, but the assertion that the position comes with a salary as also total hogwash — the salary is optional and rather insignificant, and comes with the asterisk that if you accept the salary, your commission structure is basically slashed to nothing and you no longer have any earning potential.

Apparently the way it works is that you are "hired" by redzone to join an account executive's team. After spending almost a year doing door-to-door sales you can then begin to bring in new recruits under you, and therein build your own "team" so that you can share in their profits as well. This is a stereotypical pyramid scheme exploiting recent graduates and people between jobs. Do not believe the lies redzone tells you about the legitimacy of this position, and avoid them at all costs.
