Taken Advantage of Kutztown College Students!

My son, a college student, rented an apartment from Yoder Real Estate in Kutztown. The apartment had a refrigerator from the last tenant. Upon moving in, we noticed that the refigerator did not work. This was immediately brought to the attention of the realtor, Joanne Yoder. I immediately purchased a new refrigerator. The delivery service could not fit the existing unit out of the doorway without causing damage so it was placed in an outside porch. Because of the unit being left there, the landlord, Bill Yoder is refusing to refund a $1,000 security deposit!

I spoke to Mr. Yoder and told him that I understand if he adjusts the security deposit to allow for the cost to remove the unit, but he wanted nothing to do with me and told me to read the lease. I tried to reason with him and he refused. I think it is unfair for him to keep $1,000 for removing a refrigerator. This money is very important to these college kids and I think it's bad business and a disgrace to do this. I told him that I would take this situation further if need be and he said "Good Luck" and hung up on me. I caution anyone to stay out of any of his units. This is a true Rip Off!

I would appreciate it if someone would please help us get a portion of our security deposit back. Thanks
