I cancelled my home security system contract with ADT Security on August 16th. On that date, the representative I talked to said that my service was cancelled as of that date but I would still owe 30 days because you have to give them 30 days notice of cancellation, so I got stuck paying for 30 days of no service.

Then, in September, they deducted for a full month's service. I called and the rep I spoke to said she had no record of my having cancelled on August 16th so I'd have to pay another 30 days worth of service, to October 21st. So first they rip you off by charging for the 30 days notice, then they don't even make an effort to find your original cancellation call and charge you for a second 30 days. It's ironic that for the two years I lived in that house, the only people who ripped me off were the "home security" people.
