Ripoff Harassing Phone Calls Illegal Collection Tactics

My account has been placed in the hands of this *wonderful* company for collection by Nextel Communications.

I received a mailing from Allied Interstate on 07-27 stating that my Nextel account has been placed in their hands for collection. This account has been disputed for the last year and a half because the charges due are not valid.

It was noted in this writing that I had 30 days to contact Allied regarding my dispute of this debt. I have been trying to call Allied regarding this dispute for several weeks now, with no success. I get a voice mail system that hangs up on you no matter what you press on the telephone keypad.

This company has been calling me at all hours of the day, sometimes letting the phone ring once before hanging up on me. I received a call once from them, which I answered, only to hear "This is not a sales call" then I heard two people on the other end of the phone saying "hello... Hello... Hello..."...

When I try to talk to them during a call they start rambling on about the collection effort and don't give me a chance to say anything. I told them that I have no business with their company, and they need to stop calling me. My efforts are worthless.

I am getting ready to change my phone number to an unlisted number, but I have a feeling they will get my number again. I have been keeping track of how many times and when they call to file a report with the phone company.

If this continues, I will follow some of the advice posted previously on this web site and refer to my attorney for advice.
