Scams Small Business Internet

I was contacted by a local sales person, Norman Kopp, about switching credit card processors so I decided to hear him out.

He came around to my business and went through the application with me, noting that there was no contract, hidden fees, or anything else fishy with the agreement or the company. It was going to save me money, so I decided to let him submit the application with conditions.

He submitted the app and after speaking with several people in the company I realized they would not be able to properly handle our processing needs - so I told him no and said so to corporate as well.

Not thinking a thing of it, 6 months later I get a PCI compliance letter informing me they are planning on charging us $124.65 for an account we have with AppStar.

Say what?!

Exactly what I was thinking. So, I contact AppStar and they inform me that from the time of submission we have an open account regardless and they would charge me $495 to close the account we never even formally opened.
