Rip-off! False Misrepresentation!

I am writing to complain about Valor Telecom and their Unlimited Long Distance. I got on Valor's Unlimited Long Distance over a year ago. Everything was great and it made talking to my family and friends easier than ever. I got a letter in the mail today stating that Valor was going to cut me off my Unlimited Long Distance because I abused my telephone calling for two months.

I called them right away. I told them I was told by a Valor Representative there were no strings attached except I could NOT use fax or dial up long distance for the internet. No problem. I have talked and enjoyed until now.

I was told that I was abusing talking over 2000 minutes a month. 2000 minutes??? I thought I had Unlimited Long Distance??? I was told that a disclaimer was sent in my May bill stating that users over 2000 minutes would lose their service. Yes, I talk to my family and friends. Unlimited Long Distance IS UNLIMTED LONG DISTANCE. The disclaimer? Yes, I saw it just today.

I get my phone bill and I pay it. How was I suppose to know I was going over 2000 minutes? Why didn't this company warn me instead of sending me a letter telling me of their intentions to "kick me off" my unlimited long distance. I did not violate any rules. I was talking to family and friends. That is why I got on the plan in the first place.

They say atypical long distance activity. I didn't know I had any. "Atypical usage is defined as a residential customer using over 2000 long distance minutes in a period of one month." Atypical is average. Nobody told me I had to be average to have this plan. I was told by Valor Representatives that this plan would never change nor would I ever lose the plan if I paid my bill on time each and every month.

They change their rules after I have this plan about a year. I think that is False Misrepresentation. Nobody ever TOLD me I had 2000 minutes to talk every month. I think that would have caught my attention to ask "I thought you said it was UNLIMTED??? I was told I had Unlimted Long Distance to anywhere in the USA.

So I get a letter saying I am abusing my unlimited long distance. They stated I was going over my 2000 minutes a month for the last two months. HOW WAS I SUPPOSE TO KNOW I WAS GOING OVER??? So then they send a letter telling me they are going to discontinue my plan for that reason??? NO WARNING. What has happened is that others are doing the same thing and they are getting people off this plan because apparently they are losing money. The bottom line is, they promised me unlimited long distance with no strings attached, except for the stated above no faxing and no dial up modem.

I was told that this plan would continue to stay in effect without change as long as I paid my bill every month. They implement a change in the May 17 phone bill stating this change. I did see it today. Like I say, I get my phone bill and if it is right, I pay it and go on. They could have at least sent a letter earlier on. They never did.

Bottom line is, I was lied to from the beginning. I was told that unlimted was UNLIMTIED. They should have sent a warning letter out if I was going over this "2000 a minute month LIMIT" 2000 a month LIMIT on UNLIMITED LONG DISTANCE. I was told over the phone that I abused the long distance. I barely went over it. I am not going to take this lightly. I would appreciate any help in this matter as they are going to discontinue my so called "unlimted long distance" August 13.
