Mark miller do not hire this contractor!

We heard about Mark Miller and Pa Roofing on Service Magic, a referral service. He talked a good game and convinced us that his company was a good one. We wrote him our first check a year ago. And one year later, we fired him before the job was completed. We couldn't take any more of his arrogance and incompetence. Any work he did himself, was done wrong and had to be fixed.

If you want examples, we had a dog door put in and it was crooked. He put a window in the kitchen in the wrong place 2 times and it had to be moved - after the siding was put on. The closets he put in were not right. They were not square and the doors were not level. One of us was not working at the time, so was present most of the time and never saw Mark with a level in his possession. A poor job was done of the moulding around the window that he had to move twice.

The work done by his sub-contractors was fine. His work was horrible. He directed us to vendors who were very high priced and the only way we were able to stay within budget was to find our own cabinets etc. He worked steady until he had most of our money then he worked when he felt like it. He said he would be at our house and then would not show. We had to come up with our own solutions to some issues that he should have been able to solve being a general contractor.

We regularly asked for work to be done by anyone other than him. The last straw was when we requested that a particular sub-contractor do the final job, the back door and Mark said he would have who he wanted, put the door in when he wanted.in the beginning, he took the roof off and put tarps on our house with holes in them. Of course there was a big rain and we had leaking all over the addition. He took the gutters off and left them off for a very long time.

I feel that he priced our job using the lowest quality of everything and that is not what we asked for. He left items out of the contract and we suffered as a result by having to put out more money than expected to have something decent.

He made many promises in the beginning that were not kept, one of which was that the place would be cleaned up at the end of every day. He also said that he would be here to oversee most of the work. That was not true. Our contract stated that there would be Tyvek on the house. There is no Tyvek. Our assumption was that he worked wherever he was getting the most money and then left you hanging until he was good and ready. Our final comment - DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN! If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't hire him to build a dog house. Just because you have a hammer and saw, doesn't make you a carpenter.
