2x billed prepaid debit card now 3wks for credit

Shops, Products, Services

Due to an entry error on my flight reservation, I was told by the rep that in order to apply a credit due, she would have to re-enter a new reservation, which would bill my prepaid debit card a 2nd time but that original transaction would be credited to my card at midnight that same day (3/31).

I waited until today, 4/2 and still my credit is nowhere to be found! I have now spent the past 4-1/2 hours on hold in the attempt to discuss this refund with a customer care supervisor, as the best a regular agent can offer is a 14 business day minimum for a refund to go through.

This is clearly a United error and I am unable to understand how they can take $200 cash off of my PREPAID debit card (money directly out of my pocket) immediately, yet it takes a minimum of 3 weeks to enter a credit amount back to my card.

I need this cash to pay my bills and I will now incur late fees and other penalties because of this.

Does anyone have any suggestion for me to expedite this refund? I would be eternally grateful as this is stressing me out severely. They basically lied to me promising an immediate credit and now days later offer no apology and a minimum of 3 weeks to give me my money back.

Thanks!
