Active Fraud Solutions
AFS Took money from elderly parents

Shops, Products, Services

On January 12 my mother was convinced to give her Chase Debit card number to Alec McCormick of Active Fraud Solutions. He told her that he was providing her a service and debited her account to the tune of $398.56. She called me to tell me what she had done. I was finally able to get the phone number from the bank once the amount was debited. All I could get was an answering machine. I left several messages but could not get anyone to return my call. I called Chase Bank and asked them to dispute the claim. On January 17 credit was granted by Chase Bank. On Feb. 28 the credit was reversed because Active Fraud Solutions was able to prove that my mother DID give them permission to debit her account. I'm not disputing that. What I'm disputing is that this company is fraudulant and is targeting the elderly by scaring them. Chase Bank says ingnorance is not a legal defense so we cannot get our money back. I have closed that account. On March 22 Alec McCormick again called my mother and told her she needed another product so my mother gave him the account information of yet another bank so he could debit $268. She called me and told me what she had done after she hung up. I drove to this bank immediately and restricted the account so this debit could not take place. The account could not be closed yet because there were some other outstanding checks that had to clear first. I have filed a complaint with the Mesa AZ BBB but have not yet heard back from them. I was able to talk to Alec McCormick and got every excuse in the book and was never able to resolve anything. When asked to pull up information on this incident I was told, "I need to have my secretary pull that up for me and I'll call you back." Of course I never got that call back. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told many different answers each time I called. "He's on the other line and will call you back", "He's not in the office today, " "He had a family emergency", I finally said to the answering machine, "Look the charade is up you are not a legitimate company let's stop the dance and you refund my parent's money." Now, my calls are never picked up, all I get is the answering machine.
