Carla Decker Unprofessional, Unorganized and Rude

I should have known better than to rent a house managed by Carla Decker and Scott Decker of Financial Crossroads. Made an appointment to see the house and it was rescheduled 3 times AFTER I sat in front of the house for more than 10 minutes each time waiting on them to arrive.

The house was dirty, but they assured me that it would be clean on move in day. This was a lie. The house had not been touched when we arrived with our belongings ready to move in. They could not be reached (as in they wouldn't answer the phone), so I had to pay to have the home cleaned and carpets cleaned after I moved in. They would not reimburse me for these expenses.

After living here for a few months, the doors weren't shutting the same and cracks started appearing in walls. I reported this and it took them 3 MONTHS to send someone over to investigate the problem.

Two months after this, we had an issue with water sprinklers not working. They waited 5 weeks before sending someone for this and the grass was dead due to the fact that it was summertime. The grass has never grown back in the same and I wonder if the owners know about it.

Six months later we arrived home to the heater not working. It was extremely cold outside, so we called and called... Again, no answer. We called for two days straight leaving messages. Only after we threatened to have the unit fixed ourselves and deduct it from the rent did they respond. It was one week before the problem was fixed. We have small children and they had to stay with relatives because the temperature in the home was too cold at night. Scott & Carla are well aware that we have an infant and still this did not motivate them to have this serious issue repaired in a timely manner.

I came home one day to the front door being unlocked. I was alone with my children and afraid. Only later did I learn that Scott had entered the house without notice for some unknown reason and left without locking the front door. He never would say why he was in the house.

I have since discovered that these people do not have a real office. They piggy back off of someone else's office only using it to have rent and mail delivered.

Lastly, after speaking to the owner, I discovered that Scott and Carla pocketed my pro-rated rent the first month I moved in. They started the lease on the next month and asked me to pay the pro-rated portion in cash.

These are unscrupulous individuals. You do NOT want you home managed by them and you certainly DO NOT want to live in a home they manage.
