Kid 2 Kid
Bait and Switch

Shops, Products, Services

The Kid 2 Kid franchise on Tatum Blvd in Phoenix Arizona goes out of their way to advertise that they need you to bring clothes in for trade. Generally for store credit. They send out emails and other marketing directly to you askin you to come in and bring your clothes.

On three separate occasions my wife and I have brought in brand new baby clothes and slightly worn kids clothes to trade for store credit. The number of articles of clothing would number in total between 150-200 individual items.

All three times they ask that you browse the store while they wait to examine your clothes so that you can pick out what you want to trade for. Then after making sure that you have had sufficient time to shop and pick out items for trade they inform you that the clothing you brought in is stained and dirty (even if it was something brand new with the tags still on it).

They have NEVER taken a single item of ours in for trade, not even for $0.01. You mean to tell me that you wouldn't buy 20 pairs of Carter's brand kids pajamas for $0.01?! That shows clear intention of never planning on taking in trade in the first place. I'm not even complaining about prices, or low ball offers. I am complaining about pure refusal to accept ANY articles submitted for trade. You would think that a store would accept atleast one item out of 150 offered. Especially brand new items.

I have a feeling that they train as a business practice to make customers shop before reviewing their item. What emotionally attached parent is going to go pick out items for their child and then walk up to the register and refuse to pay for atleast some of them. Even after being told they can't trade anything in.in fact they haven't even accepted to buy back an article that was purchased from there either.

They use a deceptive "trade in" policy to drive traffic to the stores, on top of a cleverly devised inspection process which encourages shopping.

Why not just truthfully advertise that you want customers to come and buy your clothes and toys?

Clear example of a bait and switch. It is an immoral, if not illegal business practice.
