Ripoff

This comp. Called me at home soliciting me to buy thier chimney cleaning service for $35.00. After he told me about all the hazards of NOT doing this, including fire and death, I agreed to have both home and business done. Three young men arrived and went to the basement.in a few minutes I was called down and he told me that this was NOT the "ususal cleaning" and it would cost $200. To do the job. I argued the price and then agreed. When completed (approx 1/2 hr.) he came up and told me I had big trouble. I needed the entire chinmey "relined" or it would soon collapse.

The cost for this, $1,860.00. Also poison gasses would seep through my walls and I was at risk for a fire. I said I would need another opinion/estimate but he was relentless and convinced me that this compnay was the best and he would apply the $200. Charge to the job if I agreed right then. So I gave him a deposit check for $600.00. Shortly thereafter, I called the company and kindly told tham I DID NOT want to do the work and needed to get more info.in a short time the worker came back and argued as to why I called the comp to cancell, again insisting at the urgency of this job. I said I made my mind NOT to do this and he left again.

I immediately called the comp, again and told them about this problem and said I needed to speak with the owners. The owner was not there and was told I would recieve call me back before close of business. No one called. Later I called again and explained that I was going out of town the very next day and absolutely neede to speak with the owner. I could not get through to who ever it was in charge and this had to wait til I came back to straighten this out with the owner. I asked the receptionist to hold my $600.00 check until then... And she agreed. I got home and called and called but got a run around.

I called my bank and the company DID cash my check going against their word. I agreed to have a simple $35.00 chimney cleaning job done and am out $600.00. DO you think there is any way you can hlep me? I have called and called and written to them but they have never gotten back to me about this. This is a scam and soliciting innocent trusting people and ripping them off is a crime.
