Sold a puppy with pneumonia and refused to acknowledge

Please do your research before buying a puppy. We recently moved to Florida and I decided to get my fiance a puppy to cheer him up. I was window shopping and fell in love with this little bulldog puppy. We bought the dog and instantly fell in love with him. For $2,700.00 you would expect to get a healthy puppy.

They gave me his records and gave me information on his blood line and breeder. Well, they also gave us their warranty. It clearly stated that they were selling us a healthy puppy and that anything we caught in the next two weeks would be completely covered. Also, for the next year, we would be covered for genetic complications.

Well, 10 days later, my puppy is sitting in the corner shaking and having a very hard time breathing. He was wimpering, refusing to eat and shaking horribly. We immediately took him to the emergency 24 hour vet because our vet was closed. It was on a Sunday. The vet put him in ICU, gave him an IV, took multiple x-rays and came to us and said that he had an advanced case of pneumonia.

Three days later and $2500 poorer, we got our puppy back. But, then he had to go to the vet 3 times a week for a breathing treatments for almost three weeks. $360 later, we have a healthy puppy.

We contacted the nursery and explained to them our situation and asked if they would cover some of the charges because of our warranty. They said no, that I should have read the fine print in the warranty. It says that you have to call them first and get permission to take your animal to emergency care in order for anything to be covered.

They then went on to say that we probably left him outside in the rain and got him sick, that we were responsible. The emergency room said that this was so advanced that there was no way possible that he got that sick in 10 days. They said that they had sold us a sick puppy.

Well, just read the fine print. No owner would stop and call somewhere that is closed to get permission to treat their dying puppy. This business sold us a very sick puppy and refused to acknowledge it or help out.

Please, don't buy your next family pet there. It is very hard to watch them suffer and go broke trying to fix them.
