Verizon FiOS
Same as Frank of LaQuinta CA

I have had virtually the same experiences as Frank of LaQuinta, California. Verizon initially provided me with printed information that indicated a price of $99.99 per month. Their current ads quote $79.99 per month. This is for bundled services.in phone conversations with their Sales Department, the price was boosted to about $150.00 per month (three different service reps quoted me threee different prices). On ordering the service, the tech took about eight hours to do the install. Frankly, the picture is not bad but the computer speed is no better than before.
After receiving my first bill, the amount was over $180.00 and has run as high as over $200.00. My wife asked me to show her how to record a show using Verizon's main set-top box. When my efforts were unsuccessful, I contacted Customer Sevice. The gentleman who assisted me requested the serial number of our main box. He then told me that the unit we had didn't even have recording capabilities. ALL of Verizon's literature, which we continue to receive weekly, promotes the ability to record and we cannot. Supposedly, part of the reason for the higher bills was because we connected four T.V.'s. However, I told them that there were four from the very start. Also, when I complained about the pricing, the rep on the phone "checked their current promotions" and would discount my bill.in one complaint, I said it was about $20.00 too high and she indicated that they had a promotion which would reduce the bill by exactly $20.00! Does this sound phoney or what? I fully agree with Frank that some sort of class action suit should be brought against this major corporation for the way in which they are ripping off hundreds of thousands of customers with impunity. I am hesitant to cancel the service because their techs could damage something in my system when removing their products. I also am not certain how one goes about initiating a class action suit but I do believe it should be done and would gladly sign onto this effort.
I should also point out that any reduction in my bill is temporary and the bill goes up when the "promotion" expires.
We received a letter in the mail from some Customer Service Manager at Verizon so I sent him a letter in reply to which he never responded. To my knowledge, this letter was mailed to all of their customers announcing an increase in charges starting in 2012.
