Orion Group - Staffsmart - Outsource Multistaff ripoff Fraudulent staff leasing company advertises payroll and workers' compensation coverage then leaves the state after taking your money. They have hit Florida, Arkansas, and Texas so far

Fortunately I did not lose money in this scam but I have been in contact with a few people who have. Apparently this company operates under somewhere between 5-7 different names. They obtain a legitimate state license to operate and then begin enrolling small employers in their program. They are a staff leasing company that offers payroll services and workers' compensation coverage to their clientele but then backs out when it comes time to pay.

One company I spoke with had been using them consistently with no problem until one of their employees was seriously injured on the job. Their employee received income benefits for a short period and then the employer received notification that they would be leaving the state. This company left this employer and this employee with bounced payroll checks, no workers' compensation coverage, no person liable for any of this.

I have seen stories about this happening in other states as well and the Fraud Department of the South Carolina workers' compensation commission is well aware of it and has attempted to warn those states in which they believe this company is operating. THIS COMPANY IS LISTED IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!! I say check your information in detail and get references before signing up with a company like this.
