Shops, Products, Services

Our nightmare began with Tele-King Communications and Peter Solo the sales person who left within 3 months after our purchase. We paid $13,000 in early July for this small business opportunity that only delivered one broken promise after another. The actual product wasn't shipped to us until 8/21/02 via UPS ground, and once it was received days later the monetary value of the phone cards we were to receive was not all there, including a $1,000 in bonus cards for signing with the company, nor were all of the posters and banners with the rate infomation. So, we were short on monetary value in merchandise and missing necessary rate information pertinent to the sale of the product we did have.

As for Tele-King's contractual obligation which states that they would provide viable interest sales locations and that we were merely the "distributor", they provided us with nothing of any value. The company faxed us appointment confirmations days after the appointment was scheduled. We would go to some locations only to find that the perspective vendor was not in the least bit interested. We then started to call before going to the appointments (as Tele-King recommended that we not call first). I have been cursed out and my husband almost beat up going into the neighborhood's where they have scheduled these bogus leads.

We then attempted to obtain our own locations only to find that the cards we had were not at all competitive with other phone card products, nor were the customers satisfied with the products that were sold.

For months following we dealt with Andrea who also ended up leaving the company. We did everything we could to try and recoup the total amount of money in cards which we never received in their entirety and the corresponding rate information sheets. We were advised to send the cards back as new cards were coming out with more competitive rates and better cards. As for the customer complaints about the total number of minutes they were actually getting, various personnel at Tele-King advised that was a problem with the telephone carrier and the customer should be advised to call the number on the back of the card with any problems. Needless to say, this wasn't a big selling point with any of our vendors.

After Andrea left, we had no contact at all. We couldn't get anyone to talk to us. We then went so far as to call the company as a perspective new client and tape recorded the sales pitch. We then called back and told the sales rep our problem, that we recorded their bogus sales pitch and failed to deliver. How funny that we immediately received a return call from a manager named Gene Perez. We had a very not nice conversation about how my recording wasn't legal, but nevertheless, he would take care of the problem. Of course, he really didn't.

Our new contact became Jack Monroe who probably tried to do his job, but wasn't working in an environment which would allow him to do so. We spoke with several other people Renee, Nancy, Xavier and a few managers, Brian Wheeler and Richard Goodman. No one fixed our problem.

In Jack Monroe left and we were then dealing with Jason Goldmacher. We were still doing the trade up with old cards not selling and getting "new" cards in return. We were also still trying to get the $1,000 in bonus cards we still never received.

Shortly thereafter we were notified that the address changed, they were moving to another suite in the same building. No other information was given to us about a new company or new arrangement, just that they moved. We then noticed that our banners and rate info. Change to reflect Intelecal and not Tele-king. Also, right after the change, when we attempted to get another batch of "new cards" and exchanged for our old cards, we were told that the original arrangement of a 40% discount to us was no longer valid. The discounted percentage with Intelecal varied by card. When we requested a print out of the new discount percentages we were told by Tony Canalles that they could only tell us over the phone.

Overall, we have sold about $200 worth of phone cards which probably includes those we have just given away. The products, ever single last one of them, have just not delivered. Even our daughter took some $20 card to camp with her last year and she got 15 minutes out of them at best.

I am a paralegal and my husband is a small business man who operates a tool manufacturing and distribution company which ships world wide. We certainly have some concept about time management, inventory, overhead, sales, etc. We thought we did all the right things before gettig into this. I checked the corporation status and ran a search on Frank Schreiber (the President of the Company). I also checked with the Better Business Bureau. All came back clean. So, we took a gamble. We crapped out, big time!!! We have since learned that any foreign corporation (which Tele-King is) can use a registered agent for a business address when incorporating and for service purposes, in this case - Peter Gruber, P.A. - who is then paid a flat fee for being the corporations registered agent. FYI: Peter Gruber P.A. And Peter Gruber, Esq. Are both registered agents for approximately 24 business entities when I last acquired thier information.

We tried to make this work. We tried to work with the company. We have a file over an inch thick with copies of correspondence with Tele-King. Unfortunately, it's primarily all from us and most of it I sent certified mail or via fax for which I saved the confirmations for my records.

Most recently we made a last ditch effort to sell the "newest cards" on E-bay, but again the product just doesn't deliver and no one who buys these cards once is interested in being a repeat customer. We thought that this would be a great opportunity to supplement our income.instead it cost us $13,000, and needless stress from a business that hasn't made us any money.

We are nearing the statute of limitations in which to file a claim and will be doing so with the American Arbitration Association. I have also been speaking with an attorney who handles fraud type cases and may be interested in moving forward with this claim. Unfortunately, I have been able to get in contact with others to come together as a group.
