Shops, Products, Services

I had Been buying coins and paper currency from Littleton Coin Company for over 5 years before I found out that I had been ripped off and cheated. I spent over $4000.00 on hard to find coins and paper money, thinking that I was putting together a good collection that would be worth something when I was done. A lot of the hard to get coins came in A/C grade (average circulated), but most of the coins I ordered were supposedly good (G) to choice proof (PR63) according to their grading standards. One of the sets of coins that I put together was the Philadelphia uncirculated American Eagle coins.

This set cost me over $3000.00 to put together piece by piece, and each coin was supposedly a choice uncirculated MS63 coin. All the coins they send come in plastic bags not containers, so are subject to the mail handling and shipping. I found out that I had been cheated when I took my collection to get it appraised for insurance purposes, it cost me $200.00 to find out that I had paid $4934.75 for a bunch of junk that was only worth $1822.31 actual real value. I asked the appraiser why such a low value, he said that because they came in bags and not in cases and were not graded by a coin grading service wit a certification that they were basically no better than pocket change in value. Also every coin that I had whether it was choice uncirculated or choice proof all had marks and damage on them from the way the coins were shipped to me.

Even the proofs had damage and marks, these are coins that are supposed to be untouched by human hands and are supposedly worth more than all other coins because of this fact. The price that they are charging is just over 255.789% mark up on the actual value of these coins, which equals roughly the value of coins that have been graded by a service with a certification and at least 3 grades higher and encapsulated in a holder with no damage.in other words they are selling a coin graded good by them for the price of a certified graded and slabbed coin in a very fine grade from a service. Example: I paid $196.00 for a 96 American Eagle in MS63 condition, and found out that the highest price retail for that same coin had NEVER been higher than $52.00 in any coin shop. Does this give you a clue as to how crooked this company is?
