Miscellaneous

Mike Mezack from the Home Shopping Network "Coin Collector Show" has been selling overgraded coins for years. The coins that are graded perfect 70 are the main culprits. The excuse given by HSN and the coin grading company was that coin grading is subjective and just because another coin grading agency or coin expert says that the coins I purchased were overgraded and a rip off doesn't mean anything because coin grading is a subjective thing and they can't be held accountable for somebody elses opinion. If everybody who ever purchased a perfect 70 coin from Mike Mezack, with the exception of PCGS and NGC grading companies, were to have them examined by experts, they would find that over 75% were overgraded and they have lost a substantial amount of money because the coin is a lesser grade than advertised by Mezack. When Mezack was selling ICG graded coins for HSN, he claimed that the perfect grade of 70 was "Guaranteed for Perpetuity". I called HSN and ICG who graded the coins to inquire about this Guarantee. Neither HSN or ICG ever heard of such a guarantee. Does this constitute Fraud or just unethical business practices? Either way, HSN would not accept any returns except for one instance when one set of coins was replaced by an equally poor set. Mezack has probably sold tens of millions of dollars worth of overgraded coins to the general public over the years. I would love to see all of those customers have the coins purchased from HSN to be evaluated by an independent third party and publish the results for all to see.
