Scam Award Claim Notification

My 90 year old Dad received an "Award Claim Notification" that he was a winner in a Sweepstakes and entitled to $88,000. Enclosed was a "check" for $3,800 that he needed to endorse in order to get his winnings. My sister called the long-distance number listed and a man enforced the need for our dad to endorse the check quickly. My sister then noticed the company listed on the check (Plastipak Packaging, Inc. 41605 Ann Arbor Rd., Plymouth, MI, 48170). She looked up the company and found a phone number (734-455-3600) and called them. They were extremely upset to be affiliated with this scam and said they had been working with the FBI to stop this scam.
