I hired this company a couple months ago. Overall, it was a very good experience. The movers were polite, very hard-working, and careful with all of my belongings. There were extremely efficient, and everything arrived at my new apartment in fantastic condition.

However, I need to report my experience with the way the payment negotiations went. When asked how I was planning to pay, I told the guy I was using a credit card. He acted disappointed and asked whether I could use cash, and I told him that I didn't have any on me. He told me there is a bank nearby and that I could go and get cash out. I told him I didn't have enough in my account. He then tried to get me to pay half in cash, but I really didn't have more than $100-200 in my bank account, and I was not going to go to the bank to give him the rest of my money.

Next, the guy filled out the paperwork and came up with the final total, which he showed me. He then encouraged me to pay more, saying that he was looking for a tip for his men. I produced $60 cash that I had in my wallet that I was planning to give to him and his men. He looked at it and acted insulted and told me that if I could pay more that would be good (if I could afford to pay more, I should).

He and his worked still had not finished unloading and unwrapping my furniture; there was still a good number of opportunities for something bad to happen to my belongings (maybe they would forget a screw for my bed frame). So, I considered how much more I could come up with, and I offered an extremely generous $150 on top of the $60 that he already had taken. Again he acted somewhat insulted and told me that if I could pay more that would be good. I informed him that that was all I could do. They finished the job, and I dead-bolted the door as soon as they left.

$210 is an extremely generous tip for a simple moving job (some might call that amount a shakedown).instead of trying to guilt me into giving him more, he should have been thanking me profusely for my initial tip. He treated me like I was cheap and was holding back cash from him. At the time, I was absolutely exhausted and didn't realize just how generous I had been (I had been up very late the night before packing). The next day, I woke up and realized that I was still upset about the whole tipping transaction. If the company really needed the money that badly, they should have just charged more for their services. They shouldn't be shaking down their customers for more than $200 extra.

I was so overwhelmingly happy with the service the company provided. I was grateful that they were available for our move on such short notice. I would have recommended the company to everyone I work with and all of my friends and family. But now, I would have to warn people that if they cannot find someone else to do their move, they need to be prepared for aggressive tipping requests. It is completely unacceptable that I was treated like that.

I contacted the company and received a weak apology in poorly-written English. If you're desperate, you could probably do worse. But, I would not recommend this company. Finally, I want to note that the guy stood over me while I was writing my "testimonial", so if you check out their website, don't believe a word of those testimonials (mine was full of nothing but praise).
