US Movers AVOID this company at all costs. They actually changed the contract AFTER my husband signed it!

My husband chose this company after gathering several quotes from a lot of moving companies. We were told that it was $80/hour for 1 truck and 3 workers. We were specifically told that the workers were paid by the job, not by the hour, so they would not take their time to make more money. We signed the contract and told them it was a 4 bedroom house with garage and full basement, that it was a big move. They never came and estimated. On the day of the move, they arrived at 9:30 am and after surveying, told my husband that they would need a second truck with a second crew. He was told that it would be $150/hour once the second truck arrived instead of 80/hour for 6 workers. My husband signed the contract.

In addition, they told us they had to wrap every piece of furniture and that we would be charged for the wrapping. They even took all our clothes out of our drawers, placed in boxes, and charged us for the boxes.By lunchtime, we were told that they had to put $2000 on our credit card as a deposit, by 5:00 pm were were told they had to up that amount to $5000. It was past 8 hours for 1st truck so it was time and a half at this point. At this point, they were not even halfway done taking apart furniture, wrapping it, and moving everything in to the trucks. We told them to leave the garage and back yard, because we couldn't afford anymore. Then, they finished loading both trucks (not counting garage and backyard) by 10:00 pm.

When we got to the new house, the supervisor, Damon G, told my husband that by then the credit card charge was now up to $7400. Mind you, this was a 3 mile move. I told them not to put any of the furniture back together or to unwrap any of the furniture that they had wrapped, because we couldn't afford anymore. Around 11:30 or 12:00, I offered to make some food for the workers because they were going on 15 hours and hadn't had a break or got a chance to eat for 9 hours. The supervisor Damon said. "no, they work better hungry" They finally finished by 3:00 am (that is not with putting our furniture back together, and not getting everything moved) The next morning my husband emailed a complaint about the charges, we were told "you are moved, aren't you?"

Also, when we asked for a copy of the breakdown of all the charges, we noted on the contract, they had crossed out $150/hour for 6 workers, and made it $150 hour for 3 workers, without my husband's initials. So they altered the contract after he signed it. We don't think they should have taken as long as they did, but we don't know how to fight that. But... We will be mediating the altered contract. So instead of paying for 2 trucks at 80/hour each, we paid for one at 80/hour and 2nd for 150/hour plus time and half after 8 hours. (total hours 20) Very shady. Also, the cost of the packing materials was $2500. We had everything already packed in boxes except furniture.
