Empty Perfume Tester Bottle Led to Shoplifting Charge and $250 Demand

About 5 months ago I was shopping at Sears when I got a shocking phone call. My father had passed away from a sudden heart attack. Well at the time I was in the perfume isle and spraying tester well not paying attention I put a empty tester bottle in my pocket didn't even realize I had done well they stopped me and my husband on the way out the door and confronted me I argued and then I realized what had happened and tried to explain. And asked the most sensible question. Why would I steal an empty bottle of perfume on purpose?

My husband offered to pay the 19 dollars anyway when they took me back they had a hispanic man there as well whom was comparing prices and size and was accused of stealing he produced a receipt and now the judge of this case is trying to give me 180 days for this and Sears is trying to charge me 250 for this I think they should have thought the situation out better after all they were just itching to bust someone anyone I will never shop there again and I have a lot of friends and family whom have credit cards with them and they have all stopped shopping there they agree with me they should pick there employees a little better they are very uncompassionate...
