Ripoff Deceptive billing Cramming

I noticed some 'odd' charges to my phone bill, being that I am in the computer security field, I *REALLY* have no use for such services and would never have ordered them. Turns out my wife entered a 'sweepstakes' online and this is what they do with your phone number information.

I contacted BELLSouth my local Telco, they advised me there is a service (they don't advertise) which is FREE that can prevent cramming or other charges placed without your prior authorization. When I asked why EVERYONE isn't told about this, the response is BELLSouth gets a piece of this $16.53 Pie!

I searched online and found many references to simmular billing practices and I wonder (WTF) is the FTC/FCC doing these days? Sleeping?!!
