Ripoff fraudulent billing, ignores BBB & customer contact, refuses to make fai

This company sells bottled water and rents water coolers. I requested for them to come and pick up their rental cooler, as I was moving. I had to call them four times to schedule pick-up, as nobody ever came on the days they said they would.

After the fourth try to get them to pick up my cooler, I moved from my apt, leaving the cooler outside for them to pick it up. I notified them once more by phone where the cooler was. I also left "empties", which I was supposed to get credit for returning.

Since then, almost a year ago, I've gotten a monthly bill for the cooler rental. They have refused to correspond with me by phone, by letter, or even to the inquiries for fairness from the BBB. What's the deal?
I DO NOT owe for this equipment! It wasn't MY responsibility to physically take the cooler to them, since they are the rental company. They should have PICKED up the equipment as promised, and now I can't get them to stop billing me for it. I am concerned they will report this to a credit bureau and mess up my credit record, but I refuse to pay until they adjust my bill and take off the overcharges.
