Unsecured Business Funding
Unauthorized charge of $2000

Sometime at the end of March I found a company via the internet, called Unsecured Business Funding. I was in the process of finding a loan or grant to start up a day care center.

On April 1, a man named Curtis Currales called me from Unsecured Business Funding. He explained to me that it would cost $249 to help me find a lender. I agreed to pay and gave him my debit card number. He then told me to check my email, click on the link, and type in my name at the bottom to electronically sign this agreement. I went ahead and typed my name and hit submit. He also had asked that I pull my credit report and email him a copy. He then told me that his secretary Maigan B. Will be contacting me shortly. After speaking with Maigan, she made an appt with an underwriter.

On April 8th, I received a phone call from John Fox. He introduced himself as the Senior Underwriter. He explained to me that I needed to gain business credit and in order to do so, I could either do it on my own, go through them, or find a credit attorney which would cost me a lot of money. He then read a few things on the emailed agreement that I had to electronically sign.

On April 10th I found a charge of $2000 on my bank statement. I contacted John Fox right away. After leaving a message, I went back to the agreement to find that he did not mention the $2000 charge.

After I asked my my refund, he explained that I signed the agreement and that I am not able to get my money back. Even after stating to him that he did not go over that with me, he denied it and argued back with me.

The Better Business Bureau got a response from UBF after I filed my complaint. The CEO, Jay Anderson, stated We will issue no refund to the client as we have performed the service outlined in the read and signed agreement. All of this also pertains to the $2000 fee which was paid for the business credit builder, a business plan, as well as the opportunity to work with our credit coach Dave Clark. We cannot provide a service that the client does not allow us to.

I am not going to give up until I get my refund.

If you are a victim, contact the BBB, General Attorney of Utah, Division of Consumer Protection of Utah, etc. The more complaints they hear about this company, the faster we can get them out of business and hopefully get our money back.
