Subscription Billing Service, Scammed my mother, continues to bill her after her death

Shops, Products, Services

After my mother's death, December I discovered she had been scammed by this magazine sales service. I don't know how they do it, but they obtain your name along with magazines to which you subscribe. Before your subscription ends, they send an official looking billing to the subscriber, often before the magazine sends out their billing. The amounts billed are initially normal and one is apt to pay this bill without thinking further. Once they've hooked you, they appear to send progressively larger billings.

The scam is the huge difference they ultimately bill vs. The normal subscription price. For example, they charged my 91 yr. Old mother $84.95 for a 2 year Smithsonian subscription, a subscription that is currently renewed by Smithsonian at $29/yr. Or $58 for the 2-year term, or approximately 150% or normal. I'd call that a RIPOFF and a SCAM, wouldn't you.

They billed a 1 year subscription for Woman's World at $89.95, which Woman's World charges normally for $59.60, another 150% RIPOFF. 1 Year of National Geographic was charged at $59.88, a 200% of normal renewal price.

A google search reveals no class action suits, no federal government actions, and no magazine publishers association actions.

Why?

They scammed a fixed income 91 year old woman and they are free to scam you.
