"Credit Pro" unexplained bogus charge to a new account

We purchased a mattress and box spring at the South Coast Plaza Macy's on Jan. 30. Our salesman asked if we would like to open a new account and save. We did and got a credit promotion with no interest for 1 year if the acct was paid in full. During the year we received monthly statements showing a small balance labeled as "credit pro". We assumed this referred to the no interest promotion and paid our payments. One month before the balance was due I paid it in full. The next statement arrived and instead of showing a zero balance it showed we owed over $300 for "credit pro". We called and that's when we found out despite our refusal of a credit protection insurance we had been enrolled. We never were given any information about the insurance company or how to file a claim if needed.
Every time we call we are told that only the other party can adjust off the balance. It goes back and forth between Macys and this other company "Credit Pro". I get several calls a day from collections and am sick of it! We've gone back to the store and spoken to the salesman and his manager with no results.
I am ready to file a fraud complaint with my state. Is there anyone else out there that has run into the same problem? Can we file a class action suit against the store for false charges?
