Charming, nice boy who ripped me off

A charming young man came to my door selling magazines. He said he was competing in a contest and that if I paid him in cash he would get more points. I had ordered magazines previously to help a young man go to culinary arts school and had always gotten my magazines, so I assumed this was the same company. Apparently I assumed incorrectly. I tried to contact the company but always get a busy signal. The BBB has two phone numbers listed, but these do not work, and one of the numbers goes to a private residence. She says she has been getting alot of calls..
