Couldn't transfer from broken equipment to new equipment, no refund

My Magic Jack unit was damaged accidentally. I purchased a replacement and attempted to transfer my account to the new unit. I selected deactivatenumber and entered in the comments section that the old unit had been damaged. This did not transfer the service. On contacting Magic Jack via their website chat I was told that since I chose deactivate number I lost everything I had paid for service and my telephone number. I was told it was my fault because I chose deactivate number and anything in the requested comments was meaningless. I was told there are no exceptions and Magic Jack would not make any exceptions because of themisleading information on their website.
