Hudson Gazette, Quebec
Advertising dollars slipping away

Shops, Products, Services

Buyer-Beware. My business dealings with this paper started and stopped last week when I was given the run around by an irritated owner/publisher of Quebec's Hudson Gazette.

A lot of realtors who advertise in this paper should be more prudent than I in their business dealings when advertising. I made the mistake of giving my credit card number without getting full written disclosure of the charges. When to my surprise they were almost double what I had originally understood, I asked for clarification. Nice talk turned ugly with the following responses.

"Did you think it was free?"You are going to make a lot more from this ad that I will".

It is evident that business advertising with this paper is being smothered one client at a time.

The entire point of my question. Why the cost of the advertising was never explained up front? The answers were given with an aggressiveness typical of someone caught doing wrong who can't admit it and turns the conversation small, and personal. I should not have expected more, as this typifies certain business attitudes today. Large and small.
