Outdoorsman's Edge Book Club
Charging for items not received after membership was canceled. Ripoff! Nationwide

Shops, Products, Services

I was a member of the Outdoorsman's Edge Book club for a few years. I purchased well above what was required in my agreement when I joined the club.

Around July 12th I noticed a charge had been made on my account and I knew I had not purchased any items. I sent an email asking what the charges were for. It was given a number by customer service of #1219581.

Customer Service finally sent me an reply on July 15'2003 that the amount I owed was for two books. I sent them a reply email that same day telling them I did not order those titles and if they showed up I would return them.
They never showed up. They never removed the balance of 46.66 from my account, so on July 27, I wrote them another email and canceled my account. At this time I stated to them once more that I did not order these two books and if they showed up they would be returned. The books never showed up

Sometime in September I received a letter from the US postal service with a part (the address label from the envelope usually attached to box of book shipment) of the shipment I never received. On the envelope it had a stamp that said" Found loose in the mail at JAX BMC 32099-0100"

I put this letter away having a suspicious feeling I would need it. Lo and Behold on October 31 I received a notice from the book club signed by Richard Sloane Collection Manager that he was going report me to a credit bureau for the balance on those two books.

I sent them another email and also a scanned copy of the letter from the post office and explained to them that that was the proof I never received the books.

I even offered to send the letter to them if they would give me an actual persons name as I was going to send it certified mail. I never even received an answer to my email other than the automatic one you get when you send an email.

Then today I got another threatening letter. I sent them one more email explaining the situation and also a warning that if they made a false report to a credit bureau that I may be forced to seek relief through a court.

So this is where it stands... If you are considering joining Outdoorsman's Edge Book Club or any of the other ones such as military book club etc. I would strongly recommend against it. But if you do join, keep good records, you will need them against this company.
