MCI WorldCom Wireless
The Endless Hold Ripoff Scam

Shops, Products, Services

My daughter is attending college in Manhattan and signed up for MCI Worldcom Wireless in September. While she was satisfied with the local service, she did not like the roam features and decided to drop the service after a year. She has a new carrier now.

In anycase, she tried to cancel the service with the 800 number provided on the bill. The dealer would not do this service (Eastma Wireless, 718-488-8700). After a 40 minute wait she had a RUDE representative who refused to discontinue her service. She was told to have her father, me, call them to do the deed.

I called on 11/15/01 at 8:05 AM. I am still on hold as of 5:05 PM. That is nine (9) hours. At least they are paying for that call.

I indend to return the next bill via certified mail with a notice that they have been reported to the FCC and that I am initiating a class action law suit against them. How many subscribers are unable to discontinue the service? What is it costing the consumers of this service? Is there an attorney out there who wants to make a small fortune? Top of it all - no address on anything except the envelope that returns the payments. I'll have to wait.
