I made the mistake of choosing this company to move my belongings from NY to GA. When the estimate was given to me, everything seemed professional (especially because it was conducted by the VP of the company). The estimated cost seemed to be in line with the other prospective companies I interviewed for the job. Everything went well until the moving day. A truck was sent that didn't have enough room to transport all my furniture.

At this point things started to go awry. Of course, a second truck had to be dispatched (the next day)."Unfortunately", since the second truck wasn't anywhere near full, it had to go back to the company's warehouse and wait until it could be filled enough to make the trip. The first truck arrived on schedule with furniture intact, but the bill was almost 50% over the estimate. When I inquired about the send truck, I was told it was still in NY waiting to be weighed and completely loaded. No knowledge as to when it would be coming. Several calls where made to the company, only to be fielded by the receptionist: no one else was available. They were all in the field. Calls to the VP's cell phone were met with automated answering machines with promises to call back. This went on for close to three weeks. Excuses about DOT registrations and lack of personnel was the reasons for the delays. No projected time period could be given for the second truck's arrival.

My RE agent from Daniel Gale, Sotheby's intervened, reminding TRIPLE CROWN MAFFUCCI that it's ineptness was being monitored and would be brought to the attention of other major real estate firms TRIPLE CROWN MAFUCCI would seek to do business with. Immediately the VP returned my call and turned the issue over to his Customer Services unit to resolve the problem. Long story short, my furniture arrived one month to the day after the first truck. All items were presented with no damages. However an additional charge of approximately 30% had been deducted from my credit card.

It then became clear what had happened: had the original estimated cost been true to the asking price, TRIPLE CROWN MAFFUCCI would have eliminated themselves from the competition. The price would have been nearly twice the amount what any other company would ask.

It's important to note, my complaint is with the management of TRIPLE CROWN MAFFUCCI, not it's driver, movers or even the receptionist. These "hired hands" seemed to have teir hands tied. They were always polite and if the driver said he would be picking up or delivering at a certain time, he was there within the half hour of his promise. However when I complained about the costs, the VP and Customer Service agent were "in the field" again and would return my call. Someday.
