Silver State VR, Renting 'vacation homes' that have been foreclosed. No replies, no refund

Early in 2010 our family decided to have a reunion over the fourth of July. We chose Las Vegas as it is easy to fly into, has a lot of entertainment and easy for all.

Because we live within a few hours and can afford to do so, we rented a large home from Silver State Vacation Rentals. We exchanged emails and calls for about 6 weeks and signed all agreements and paid in full in March. We wanted to get the best rate well ahead of the holiday.

On June 20th we drove to Las Vegas to check things out, find the local stores, etc. We found the home, however, it was sealed and foreclosed. Empty. A check of the Assessors records shows the home was foreclosed on in March, the same month he took my money. On a 'complaint board' I found a post that thanks him for refunding a customer on the same property that I rented 'because it had been foreclosed on'. My suspicion is he posted it himself to make himself look good. That post was done in May. To date I have not heard from him nor has he responded to any of my attempts to reach him.

He has changed his phone number. Faxes and emails go thru but we've received no response. He charged $1599 for the week, a $500 deposit and a $150 cleaning fee. Two weeks before our event and we were forced to go scrambling to find another place, all that were left were very high end, our new rental is near $4000 total. (very lovely tho).

I have taken the steps to get Mr. Paz criminally charged. I suspect he's keeping his fax and email active because he is continuing to rip people off. I will continue to pursue him criminally, personally and in civil court to recover not only what I paid but the expenses I have been forced to incure because of his actions.

He needs to be stopped and others need to be warned.
