Sent invoice for $349.95 for directory not ordered. Ripoff!

This company called our company in June and asked for the previous director. I said that I was the new director and asked if I could help them. They asked me to verify our address and my name, etc. I did so and they called a second time to verify what the first person had asked. They said they were sending something complimentary to our company.

The next I heard from them was an invoice for 349.95 for some sort of business directory. As soon as I opened it I called the company and was bounced around to everyone's voicemail. Finally after I realized that I would not get a real person, I left a message saying we had not ordered anything from their company and that the bill would not be paid and any shipment from them would be refused.

Some time later we got a box from them, which I promptly sent back like I said in my voicemail. We didn't hear from them until some time after that.

I was called by a representative from them, one day calling to "resolve an unpaid invoice". They did not identify themselves at first so I asked, "Are you infomatika?" They said yes and I proceded to explain to them that I didn't order anything from their company and that I sent back the shipment they sent us. The woman I talked to said she would give my case to someone else to investigate. She said I would get a call back from them. "In a few days?", I asked. No, probably two weeks, You see we're very busy.

Then our treasurer found the invoice and began to investigate and got a similar runaround. She finally got ahold of a real person who said that they had me on tape ordering whatever it was that we were being billed for and that if we didn't pay for it we'd be hearing from their lawyer. The representative was supposed to call back with the tape, but didn't.

The next call was to my treasurer. She finally did hear the tape of what sounded like me ordering the directory. She said that I didn't have the authority to order it, but the representative from infomatika tried to get the treasurer to put it on her own credit card!

Well they were supposed to call me back and let me hear the tape of myself supposedly ordering whatever it was. But, they never did, big surprise. I hadn't heard anything else from them until the invoice was faxed to us again yesterday.

I am very glad to know I am not the only one who is getting harrassed by them. Maybe I should fax the invoice back to them along with a printoff of all the reports on them from your website. Thanks to everyone who reported them on the website.
