RDC, Sharon Peterson or Edward Johnson tried to scam my father with a fake check

My father got a letter in the mail for part time employment from these people and a check for $4,980.00, its like for real people who would send someone a check for that much in the regular mail??!! I did some research of my own and when I called Sharon Peterson she didn't sound professional at all. She anwered the phone with "Hello" instead of good morning and she didn't even mention the company's name.
I looked on the internet to see the company and it was a drug store company. On the Home page of the website it has in big bold red letters that someone is committing a scam with the company name. It also states that the real company has been in contact with the FBI to get this problem resolved. I even contacted the bank that was on the check and they even told me the check wasn't real. I read the account number to the rep and she said they don't have any accounts under that number.
