Residential Service (long Distance) fraud, ripoff, changing our long distance service without our permission & making it difficult to regain our original long distance carrie

A telemarketer called from MCI enticing us to change long distance service to them. I asked for any information to be sent to me in the mail & we would consider it & if decided to do the change, would sign their form & return it to them. We were told that no change would occur unless my signature was sent to them with the request for a change.

We did NOT receive ANY information from MCI. However, in approx. 6 weeks, we received the first bill for long distance service for our residential account. It was double our usual bill with less phone minutes logged. We called & were given false information once more in that we would be reconnected to our original carrier. The next month we received another bill with similar results adding the next months billing.

I phoned several times to try to correct this problem & finally got re-instated with our original carrier by calling them & getting some pin-number from them. It caused us several hours of time & expense of phoning.

I have sent our check to the appropriate address & have sent a letter to several addresses to complain about the fraudulent manner that was used to get customers through telemarketing. I intend to also send letters to prominent newspapers in our area to describe the manner that MCI used & the consequent rip-off that occurred.
