Sing a song, beware creative community! Recording Studio Ripoff!

This is a company that requires full payment in advance for recording services and does not produce a recording. They lie to credit card companies and consumer agencies by claiming that the monies were for the session only. Their credit card receipt reads, "All sales final" and they claim that the job is completed after the recording session. This is the equivalent of paying up front for a tailor-made suit, get your measurements taken and have no suit made. The tailor then keeps all the money because he took the measurements. This company stole my money, produced no recording, forced me to miss the submission deadline for the recording, and left me no choice but to have the recording produced elsewhere. They then lied to the credit card company, the BBB, and the State Division of Consumer Services. When I threatened litigation, they promised to refund the money.

Despite several emails confirming their offer to refund the money, they provided no refund and then claimed that I refused the refund, which is ludicrous and directly contrary to the emails that were forwarded to the BBB and the State. The BBB has acknowledged this unresolved complaint and categorized the company's response as inadequate yet informed me that due to a phone call from the principal of the company, inexplicably improved the company's rating by 2 letter grades. The BBB refuses to explain why they did this in the face of this demerit. The BBB recorded the unsatisfactory finding and then changed the company's rating from a D to a B. This certainly fuels the rumor that the South Florida BBB is corrupt. The State was just provided with the emails that make the company liars and I am awaiting their response. The County Department of Consumer Affairs is working through its backlog and will also be investigating the complaint. This company cost me untold thousands of dollars in lost work opportunities thanks to their breach and their insistence on stealing the money they took from me is adding incredible insult to a devastating injury.
