About six months ago I made an online purchase from Joanns Crafts. Without my knowledge or consent Joanns provided Shoppers Discount with my credit card information and the next thing I knew my credit card was being charged for a membership I knew absolutely nothing about. May I add there was nothing on the Joanns site to suggest I was signing up for Shoppers Discount or if there was it was very cleverly hidden. I certainly received no invoice of such a purchase to Shoppers Discount nor did I receive a membership card. The only way I caught this thing was by going over purchases billed to the credit card. From here we get conflicting stories: Shoppers Discount claims Joanns is a client and it was Joanns who provided them with my personal credit card information. Joanns, on the other hand, denies any responsibility. Be that as it may Joanns in fact is the party who supplied Shoppers Discount with personal credit card information without my consent for the sole purpose of churning a quick sale. This is so wrong. I have the right to know if I am purchasing something in plain English. Joanns has no business using trickery to get me to buy a membership to Shoppers Discount so they can get a kick back.
