Iam a ups store owner in south georgia.in denyse signs was assigned and contracted by my corporate office mbe inc./ ups store to construct and install a sign on my building.
The sign was placed approx. 20 ft in the air on the building above my store. Last saturday, oct. 31st, the sign falls off the building hanging on the existing electrical wire and one properly installed anchor bolt. The sign weighs approx. 500lbs, 20ft long and is 3 ft high. During fall of our my sign, i had two customers walking underneath my sign walking into our store. Thank god the sign did not fall onto my customers. To note, this was on a calm sunny day in south georgia. I called a local sign company that responded asap to the emergency that had happen. During the investigation of the sign fall, the local sign company stated that the sign was not installed properly on one side (left). The left side had a 4" anchor bolt installed into a foam material face building! The local sign company was amazed that the sign stood up this long.
I called my corporate office to explain the situation that had happen over the weekend. Of course i find out, the ups store no longer uses this sign company as an approved vendor, now i see why. Of course, the warranty was outdated. I tried to call steven on the cost to clear this mistake up and now he can not be reached. His assist; bonnie seemed to be screening my calls.
This sign incident is going to cost me approx. $1500, just because they did not properly install the sign. The sign it self cost $6,357.30, imagine if the sign would of fallen and broke or killed someone... Who pays for this??? Beware of this company that does not know how to install signs!
