Mark Wolf, Worst Collection Agency Ever!

My company hired Ranger Financial Services to collect a debt from a long time customer that was getting out of range on past due invoices at more than one property. Ranger Financial seemed reputable at the beginning and we were going to give them a shot.
What came next can hardly be described over the internet. They contacted the customer, an apartment complex, and used tactics that were beyond any that I could ever imagine being used. They contacted several of the sister properties located across the USA and used the same tactics.
These tactics include: pretending to be a lawyer, making sexual comments, using abusive language, threatening to contact vendors and customers and tell them that they are a shady company to do business with, and making repeated phone calls and tying up the customers phone lines.
After the harsh treatment, the customer refused to work with Ranger Financial and contacted us instead. Once the customer told them that they refused to work with them Ranger Financial began to call us and harass us in the same manner that they did the customer.
We reached an agreement with the customer and they paid us the money they owed us. Ranger Financial couldn't deal with the fact that they blew the project so they threatened to sue us for breeching our contract with them.
We did pay them their money, even though they really didn't deserve it.
I suspect that they are using this extreme tactic to make their transaction win/win for themselves. They will either get their cut from a successful collection, or they will get their cut by threatening to sue the company that hired them in the first place. I can only imagine that most of their transactions go down like this.
If you were my customer and were treated like this, wouldn't you refuse to deal with the collection agency and instead work directly with your business partner to resolve a debt? I know I would, and that is EXACTLY what Ranger Financial wants you to do so that you will be in breach of their contract and they can get paid for their unsuccessful collection attempt.
We gave Ranger Financial their chance, and they blew it. A simple web search of their company would have revealed exactly what was coming. Lesson learned on our part. Don't be a victim to this company.
