Georgia Power - Southern Company
Online transfer service request does NOT cancell service at old address! Still get billed!

Shops, Products, Services

I used the GA Power's online service to transfer my service in July. I received a confirmation that the new service would be turned on, but it didn't say that the old service would be disconnected - so my fault for not following up; however, if a company is going to have a web option to TRANSFER service, then that's what it should do. I entered the disconnect & connect dates... It's now October & the bills that were sent to the old address finally arrived at my new address - bills for the time I've been living at the new address. Somehow, the people living in the tiny apt we were in temporarily have managed to charge up twice the amount of electricity that we used. When I called customer service, I spoke with James at extension 31125. He would not give out a last name, but he's an "Escalated Call Manager" and you can't get above him without having someone call you back. He was useless. So, to the person who's at my old address getting your free electricity, you won't have any power as of tomorrow. Happy trails.
