Shops, Products, Services

I know of at least (3) 7-elevens in the San Jose, CA area that systematically short-change their customers everytime. I can't say that it is normal procedures of the company nor can I say that every employee of the 3 stores does this but is it is interesting that this is not limited to one store or one employee.
My specific experience at each store is that they short-change their customers 1 - 3 cents, it's not a lot and most customers are not likely to notice it or even care if they do notice it. When I started noticing the short-change, I started to ask for my missing change. The clerks have never argued, they've just handed over the change. While pennies don't really matter to me in the aggregate this practice can add up to quite a bit of income for 7 - eleven. On the conservative side I would say that 500 customers enter a single store in a day. A a penny a customer this is $5; in one year $1,825. Not a lot of money, but with 6,850 stores (as posted on their website), this can become a very large profit center for the corporation.
