Sounds like a scam to me Kapolei, Hawaii

Shops, Products, Services

I got a phone call from these folks just like the other complaints stated. I was skeptical from the start. Why do I get a $1000 shopping spree? I didn't sign up for anything like this, did I? No. He told me it was like, an award for being a good customer from the CC company. I asked him what the catch was, he said "No catch". Then he proceeded to tell me how I had to get the magazines and pay the shipping. He gave me some kind of deal: I could only get 4 mags and pay only 2.85/month (for 60 months! I thought he said 16) I wanted a website, I wanted more info. He was new and couldn't tell me much. He had a supervisor call me back. She gave me her name and company's info., so I gave her my cc number to verify that I had credit to pay if I said yes to the deal (still hadn't committed to anything at this point - just asking Q's).
Anyway, by the time it came out how much this was really going to cost (I did the math and it looked like $780), I realized this was not just fishy, it wasn't a good deal at all. Who, in Goodness' name, spends $780 on magazines they didn't need so they can get $1000 shopping spree? It doesn't make sense. Yes, you end up with some money at the end there (if they don't make you pay more like others have been saying they did)... But you're spending a ton of money to get about 50% of that in a giftcard. It'd be like spending tons of $ on a credit card just so you can get the cashback bonus. Silly.
I was enchanted by the idea of $1000 (Amazon, oh boy!), but I eventually said no. The woman was kind of rude and basically hung up on me then. (Iguess I wasted her time asking so many questions). I'm very glad I said no, but sorry I gave my CC # to them. I called back a little later and asked to confirm that they understood I was not participating and they wouldn't use my info. The guy talked to the girl and said "No, we'll be destroying your information". So hopefully that all works out.
I see some employees on here, frustrated by the bad press. I'm sure it's hard to see such harsh things said about your employer. But I will agree with other customers that this is dirty pool. I listened a lot and asked a lot of questions. Prices changed a few times, and it isn't a good deal no matter which way you roll it. This company is trying to take advantage of people. We're all fools for "free", and they use that to try to reel people into a deal that isn't a deal.
I hope others ask lots of questions and look up the company and find these posts before they decide to do business with Mt. Area Comm.
