So-Called "Luxury Service Company" Failed to Pay Independent Contractor for Her Services! Avoid their hypocrisy!

I was independently contracted by Deluxe Experiences, specifically Alan Philips, one of the business's owners, to provide copy editing services on May 6. Mr. Philips asked me to edit the text of his company's website. He stated — in writing— that I would receive monetary compensation for my services.

I complied with all instructions, demands, and requests per our agreement and submitted my work — completed in full — to Mr. Philips for his approval. I then contacted him regarding payment for my services and he failed to get back to me. I later asked a mutual friend to inquire with Mr. Philips, on my behalf, as to the status of my remuneration. She told me that Mr. Philips needed my mailing address and that he would send a check to my residence.

I emailed my address to Mr. Philips on May 14. Mr. Philips never mailed any form of compensation and has not contacted me to offer any sort of explanation for his failure to comply with our agreement. I contacted the company again in June and did not receive a response.

I have copies of all correspondence regarding our agreement as well as copies of my fully completed work. Over two months have passed and I still have not been remunerated for services rendered. It is truly disappointing that a company whose primary ambition is provide luxury services to its clients fails to properly or lawfully treat those it hires to provide services to the company itself. I would like to see how Deluxe Experiences feels or reacts if it is ever bilked by one of its clients.
