Possible breach of contract, definite unethical business practices— jerked us around for months then sold product promised to us to a higher paying buyer!

This business is run by an emu farmer who I'm sure is quite knowledgeable about how to raise cantankerous flightless birds, but who doesn't know the first thing about ethical business practices.

The business owner's name is Paul Pluss. He accepted an order for emu meat (a byproduct of his business making emu oil cosmetic products) from the Colorado Carnivores raw feeders group. This meat was needed by many who have dogs who are allergic or sensitive to more common proteins. He promised us a certain quantity of meat and arranged a delivery date.

Then, he canceled the delivery and began giving the group the run-around for months. After brushing us off and giving delivery dates then changing his mind for several months, Paul Pluss left a rude voicemail message for the group member coordinating the delivery, saying he'd decided to sell the meat promised to our group to someone who would pay more.

We had waited for months for this order, when we could have investigated other suppliers. Now many people with dogs who are accustomed to emu as a regular portion of their diet have been left without, which could be particularly disastrous for dogs eating raw diets due to conditions like IBS or protein allergies.

The group's coordinator is looking into whether or not this can be considered a breach of contract and legally actionable, but in the meantime I want to warn others: If you just want to buy some dubiously effective and smelly hand cream made from the body fat of a flightless bird, go ahead and do business with this guy. But if you want to be treated with respect, thanked for your business, and actually receive the products you order, do not do business with Paul Pluss or JS Emu Oil.
