Customer Care untruthful! / Runaround!

My contract with Gexa (at 17/kwh) expired on June 20. I called Gexa on June 2, and was told by "Customer care", that at the end of my contract, I could "automatically" go on a 12 month contract at 9 / kwh. I agreed to this, but asked if there were any other fees/charges associated with this rate, and was told "no".
Called Gexa again on June 20, and again "coustomer care" told me my new rate would start today.
In July, I got a huge bill (admittantly I used the a/c a great deal), at the same rate of 17/kwh. Again I called "customer care" and this time they told me that initially I had called 1 day too late (meter had already been read) for them to change my rate for this month, however I would be charged only 12.1/kwh (don't know where this figure came from). I asked what happened to the 9/kwh that I was quoted? She said this includes other fees/charges.
The representatives at Gexa "customer care" will say anything to get a customer to stay with them!!!
Since I am unwilling to pay the extra $150.00 for 'early termination', they have me as a customer for this coming year ONLY. When my contract is up, I will seek another electric company, where hopefully, the c.C. Representaives are honest in what they say.
