PETCO's employees' lack of knowledge led to my hamster's DEATH through POISONING

I went to Petco for a simple flea/tick powder (not spray, so my hamster wouldn't catch a cold). They did not have any powders for small animals, or they were out. The employee I asked guaranteed that the same powder for a dog/cat could be used on my small animal. He ensured me that its all natural ingredients would not harm my hamster if accidentally ingested. His attitude was completely reassuring and he allowed me to believe that it was "commonplace" for one to use this powder on a hamster. I put the powder sparingly on my hamster that night and the next morning he began bleeding from his rectum. He was bleeding profusely and could not move. We took him to the vet right away and the he informed us that his intestines had been squeezed out of his rectum and that putting him down was the only humane option. We put our beloved hamster down due to the stupidity of a Petco employee. If one does not know 100% if a product is safe, why suggest it to a consumer? That too, without consulting more knowledgeable staff? Petco should reform its policies and end animal cruelty at their locations. It is imperative that animals should not be treated in such a manner. The Petco location admitted fault, but that is not enough.
