Refer-a-Friend Rebate Denied, $21.50 Equipment Fee Debited

I signed up for the refer-a-friend program also and was ripped off. When I called to check the status of my rebate, they simply stated, "You did not sign up for that program. There is no record of it." I know for a fact that I did. My mother gave me her account number and the 800 number.

They said I did not call the right 1-800 number, which is apparently what they are telling a lot of people. I know I signed up for this and other rebates from this company, which I seriously doubt I will ever receive. I have tried contacting other customer service reps via email to try to get some help, because the customer service rep on the phone was so nasty toward me. I'm still waiting to see if they will assist me.

Also, at a previous residence I had attempted to get service, and the tech said I had "too many trees around," so he couldn't do it. Well, that's fine, but they said they wouldn't debit the $21.50 equipment fee since I never got service. Well, guess what? THEY DID! That messed up my checking account, and every time I called the 1-800 number they would connect me to someone else. Point is, I never got that $21.50 back.

Maybe after that experience I should not have chosen Direct TV again, but I believe that they know our options are very limited in some areas. So much for customer appreciation.
